
James (Jim) G. Anderson
K.C., B.A., LL.B.

Jim is the founding partner of Anderson & Co., and a prominent member of the Swift Current community. Born and raised on a family farm just outside Swift Current, Jim’s practice is primarily focused on estate planning, family farm intergenerational transfers, and real estate issues. He is also involved in general agribusiness and commercial transactions. Outside of the practice of law Jim is focused on his family and aviation. Jim is an avid pilot, and has at times been known to attend our satellite office(s) by Cessna.

Neil G. Gibbings
J.D.

Neil is a second generation farmer, originally from the Rosetown district, where he still manages and operates the family farm. Neil’s practice is focused on the more sophisticated corporate/commercial transactions, which complements his extensive taxation practice. Neil has been involved in several of the larger corporate reorganizations and sales in the Swift Current region in recent years. His practice also touches on such other areas of law as civil litigation, estate planning and real estate transactions. Neil’s practice truly is diversified, making Neil well deserving of the title “general practitioner”.

Morris A. Froslie
K.C., B. Eng., LL.B.

Morris comes to Anderson & Co. as a Calgary engineer-turned lawyer. Morris, who originally resided in the Neville, SK area, has a diversified practice. He however pays particular attention to matters relating to commercial/corporate transactions and taxation. Morris is also one of a handful of lawyers in Southern Saskatchewan whose practice involves securities issuances and securities compliance services. Morris’s interests include photography, woodworking, skiing, and his family. Morris’s wife, Jacelyn Ryan-Froslie was a member of the firm until 2000, when she was appointed to the Court of King’s Bench (formerly Queen’s Bench).

Glenn E. Forrester
B. Comm. (Honours), J.D.

Glenn grew up in Prince Albert in Northern Saskatchewan. After completing his Bachelor of Commerce (Honours in Economics) and Bachelor of Law Degrees, he commenced the practice of Law in 1977 in Swift Current with a firm that eventually became Forrester Heinrichs Law Firm. In October 2023 Glenn joined Anderson & Company. His practice is general with an emphasis on business/corporate, estate planning/administration, real estate and agriculture law. Glenn previously served as President of the Swift Current Shrine Club and Elmwood Golf Club, of which he is also past Club Champion. Glenn enjoys spending time with his family and friends and is interested in traveling, news, golfing and all other sports.

Angelina Wall

Angelina was raised on a farm east of Swift Current. After high school, she attended the University of Saskatchewan where she obtained an Honours Degree in Psychology in 1996, an Advanced Certificate in Sociology in 1997, and a Law Degree in 1999. Angelina began practicing law in 1999 and has a general practice with extensive experience in family law, corporate/business law, and agricultural law. Outside of the office, Angelina serves as Director of Administration and Finance for the 2019 Western Canada Summer Games. She also previously served on the Board of Directors for the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation. Angelina and her husband operate a grain farm south of Swift Current. Her interests include boating, skiing, traveling, and spending time with her husband and three children.

Tyler McCuaig
LL.B. w/Distinction

Tyler grew up on a large family ranch at Bengough, SK, and thereafter attended the University of Regina where he took 3 years towards a math degree, before attending law school at the University of Saskatchewan. Tyler articled with Anderson & Co. in 2002 and became a partner in 2007. His work is broad ranging, covering everything from civil litigation and corporate/commercial to taxation and securities. Tyler is married with 2 children and his past-times include golfing, curling, hockey, and hunting.

Joel. P. Friesen
K.C., J.D., B. Comm. w/Distinction

Joel was raised on an acreage south of Swift Current and returned to his hometown after completing his Commerce and Law Degrees at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. Joel joined the firm in 2008 and became a partner in 2013. His practice area is general, with a focus on real estate, estate planning, estate administration, criminal defense work and corporate/ commercial matters. Outside of the office, Joel currently serves on the Board of Directors for Sasktel and serves as the President of the Swift Current Saskatchewan Party Constituency Association. He also previously served on the Board of Directors for the Elmwood Golf Club and the Water Appeal Board, Joel is an avid golfer and also enjoys spending time in the mountains snowboarding with his wife Nicole and their two children.

Ryan J. Plewis
LL.B., B. Comm. w/Distinction

Ryan has practiced law with Anderson & Company since May 2007 when he was originally hired as an articling student. Between 2008 and 2013 Ryan practiced law full time as an Associate Lawyer with a general practice, but focused on criminal defence, real estate transactions, corporate and estate work. In 2013 Ryan took on the additional responsibilities of joining his family business, Standard Motors, which he and his brother have built into a 5 dealership group across Southwest Saskatchewan and Southeast Alberta. He is also actively involved in the community by serving as a Swift Current City Councillor since 2009 and as a volunteer Director on the Board of the Swift Current Broncos since 2008. Ryan lives in Swift Current with his wife, Jenn, and their three daughters.

Jean P. Jordaan

Jean (John) grew up south of Johannesburg in South Africa. He graduated law school in 2005 and started his own practice in 2009. In 2016 he settled in Canada with his family and joined the team at Anderson & Company in the same year. In 2018, Jean received the call to the Saskatchewan Bar. His practice area specializes in real estate, litigation, corporate law and intellectual property law. He is experienced in blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum. He has litigated at all judicial levels of Court, including the Supreme Court of Canada. Jean enjoys camping, hunting and fishing as well as following the latest technology. He enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 children.

CTFL v Fix Building Products 2000 Ltd. – Acted for a farm client after a shop collapse and obtained summary judgment against the builder for defective and incomplete work.
MPFL v Victoria Pulse Trading Corp. – Defended a farmer sued on a purported grain contract; after our summary judgment application, the plaintiff discontinued its claim.
DK v S3 Manufacturing – For an unjustly dismissed employee, won nine months’ pay in lieu of notice plus costs following trial.
JB v CB – Secured removal of an unlawful occupant (former spouse) and occupational rent; when the claim was struck on res judicata, succeeded on appeal at the Saskatchewan Court of Appeal.
RP v SCIC – Assisted lead counsel Tyler McCuaig to compel disclosure from Saskatchewan Crop Insurance regarding Appeal Board findings; the King’s Bench order was upheld on appeal.
DD v Century Agro Ltd. – Recovered amounts owing to a farmer after a grain company refused to honour a contract.
GD v DR (Partition and Sale) – Obtained an order for partition and sale of land held by tenants in common; matter settled following issuance of the order.
DG v SGI – Successfully appealed before the SGI Appeal Board regarding an injured party’s relapse date.
MM v JJ – Obtained an order compelling a full accounting from an attorney under a Power of Attorney.
A v BF – Successfully defended against a tenant’s claim of a binding written land lease.
TH v SDH – Defeated an application by siblings to set aside a father’s inter vivos land transfer to his daughter.
GD v DR (Estate Transfer) – Secured a court order transferring land from a deceased estate to the beneficiaries.
JLD v CK (Appeal) – Successfully defended an appeal arising from a divorce trial.
JLD v CK (Fraudulent Preferences) – Brought an application under The Fraudulent Preferences Act against a former spouse’s new partner and her father; the matter settled before hearing.
DE v DNOW Canada ULC – Defeated a motion to strike claims against company directors in a wrongful dismissal action.
JVL v Swift Hotels Partnership Group Ltd. – Lifted a bankruptcy stay, permitting litigation against a company director to proceed under bankruptcy legislation.
BF v Agri-Can International – Enforced a grain contract on behalf of a farmer against a grain dealer.
DD v RS – Successfully opposed an application to dismiss for delay.
WW v SE – Defended an employer in a wrongful dismissal action; the claim was dismissed.
RT v Beckerland Farms – Obtained a security for costs order in the amount of $50,000.
DM v R – Secured a s. 113 Criminal Code exemption permitting a PAL application.
NB v Honeybadger – Recovered misappropriated funds stolen from a client’s bank account by a hacker and paid to Honeybadger to purchase Bitcoin.
DRW v Water Security Agency – Resisted the WSA’s application to strike the client’s claim.

Megan N. Lacelle
B.A.J. w/Distinction, J.D. w/Distinction

Megan was raised on a farm near Cadillac, Saskatchewan. After graduating from high school she attended the University of Regina where she obtained her Bachelors of Arts, Journalism degree with Distinction in 2015. She began writing for numerous publications including the Prairie Post, Medicine Hat News, and Advance Southwest before obtaining her Juris Doctor with Distinction from the College of Law in 2018. Megan is interested in photography, travel, and writing; she can be often be found on her days off spending time with her husband and their son. She joined Anderson & Company as an articling student in 2018 and practices in all areas of law in the southwest.

Maria Icasiana de Gala
A.B. Psychology, J.D.

Icasiana arrived in Canada from the Philippines in 2009 with her background in law. She received her law degree from the Ateneo de Manila School of Law in 1993 and was called to the bar in 1994. She first worked for the City of Swift Current as a Community Connections Worker. She then assumed the position of Executive Director of the Southwest Newcomer Welcome Centre in 2011 where she spearheaded many programs and the expansion of the center until 2023. She is an active member of the community through her volunteerism and as a member of different boards and advisory committees.
Icasiana completed the accreditation process for her law degree in 2022. In April 2023, she joined Anderson & Company as an Articling student and was called to the bar in May 2024. She engages in the general practice of law, with a focus on Family Law, Real Estate, Estate Planning, Estate Administration, and Immigration.

G. Foster Tessem
K.C., B.A., LL.B

Foster was born in Gull Lake, SK, and was raised on the family farm, which his grandfather homesteaded in 1907 in the Antelope district. He began his law practice in 1970, focusing on estate planning and administration, agricultural real estate, and corporate law. In his leisure time, Foster enjoys golfing, yard work, and exploring the beautiful province of Saskatchewan.
